Fairy Tale Artist Statement
For my fairy tale project I chose to use Snow White and the Seven dwarfs as my theme.
Most exciting part of the story-
I took a picture of an apple with someone’s hand laying in the grass to show when Snow White eats the poisoned apple.
#1 Photo for character
I took a picture of red lips for character to resemble a characteristic of snow white.
#2 Photo for character
I took a picture of a crown to resemble the queen in Snow White. I used a black background since the queen in the story Snow White is an evil queen. The black background makes the picture more dark resembling the queens evil personality.
#1 photo for Symbol
For one of my symbol pictures I took a picture of a broken CD resembling a broken mirror. I took a photograph of a broken mirror because it shows that the mirror is a bad thing in Snow White and causes the Queen envy.
#2 Photo for Symbol
For my second picture for symbol I took a picture of a perfume bottle to represent the potion the queen makes for Snow White to put on the apple. The potion gives the picture a mysterious feel.

Unity- the clouds represent unity because it takes up the whole picture.
Repetition- the piano keys represent repetition because they repeat over and over again.
Pattern- the flower represent pattern it has the same shape of petals row after row repeating.
Rhythm- the sand represents rhythm because the ripples of the sand show the motion of the waves and it keeps a moving pattern.
Balance- the railroad tracks show balance because on either side of the tracks they are identical.

For my winter photos I mainly took pictures of the snow because I think that snow is a symbol of winter . While I was taking my pictures I was trying to get a bright but winter feel to them. For example, the picture of the snow and ice on the shed was a very bright picture since the sun was shining and the was a blue sky. To achieve a brighter picture I turned the ISO higher. Also, for the Christmas bulb I put it in the snow to make it stand out.

I think that using framing helps my photos because it helps give the object more interest to the viewer. For example, in my first picture I am framing the flower behind of the branches of a tree. This helps my picture become more interesting because it makes the flower stand out. For my second photo the branches of the bush frames the leaves giving it a more unique look. Lastly, I think that the picture I took of the bench is the most interesting and unique. Framing helped my pictures because it is at a different angle.

For my first picture the heart on the book represents love and the book represents that I love to read. For my second picture the end of the cinnamon sticks resembles the shape of a heart. I like this picture because it is very simple with the white background which makes the cinnamon sticks more noticeable to the viewer.

I think that the field trip was really fun and a good opportunity to take some great pictures. For me, I think the best part was going to the Bloedel Conservatory because I think I got some really good pictures there and it made it look as if I were in a tropical place. Overall, mostly all of my pictures turned out good except for some blurry ones and overexposed ones. I think that my strongest picture was the orange flower one because the dark background makes it really stand out. Next time, I would take pictures of a more variety of things and not delete the ones I thought were bad before looking at them again.

Action Pictures
I think that freezing motion and creating a blurred movement all contributes to a great action photo. The settings to achieve action shots has to do with the shutter speed and ISO.The camera has to be set on shutter priority mode first. If the shutter speed is very fast the object will freeze and if the shutter speed is slower the object will blur. I could improve on lighting so there is not so much editing involved and learn how to use the shutter speed and ISO better so the pictures are not so grainy.

Toy Story Project

My toy photography story is about two Lego men who are in a race against each other. So the two racers both line up at the starting line and the flag man wave his flag for the race to begin. The crowd cheers as the horse keeps up with the motorcycle around the track. At the finish line the horse rider and the motorcycle are neck and neck. In the end both racers share the victory and win first place.
